Dr. Sami Atiya

Dr. Sami Atiya is a member of the Group Executive Committee of ABB Ltd and President of the Robotics and Discrete Automation business, which employs approximately 11,000 people worldwide, writing the future of flexible manufacturing and smart machines.
Before joining ABB, Atiya held senior roles at Siemens and other industrial companies and was active in the research field of robotics and artificial intelligence at the Fraunhofer Institute.
Atiya has an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, US, and received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, specializing in robots, sensors and artificial intelligence, from the University of Wuppertal and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
